Trimont awarded Transportation Alternative funds
The MNDOT District 7 Area Transportation Partnership (ATP) recently awarded the City of Trimont Federal Transportation Alternative funding for the trail project in the amount of $160,944. Trimont will build a trail along Highway 4 on the south end of the city from the Town Center shopping center headed north to the school. The trail will be constructed of both 8 feet wide bituminous until Birch Street and then turn to 6 feet wide concrete all the way out to the school, and will improve the highway crossing near the school. The trail will allow residents a safe direct access to daily needs such as the school, post office, and the Town Center. The City, Trimont Active Living Coalition, State Health Improvement Program (SHIP), and Region Nine Development Commission collaborated to determine the community vision and needs. The funds for this project will be distributed in 2022.
